I had no clue what to do for my final project in CAD. from my total experiences in all of the CAD classes I knew I wanted to do something with architecture. I decided that I would like to incorporate something that I love to do, dance. I have been dancing for nine years. Over the course of those nine years, I have competed in thirteen competitions and two conventions. after spending the majority of my time dancing, I have found that there is nothing like what I have designed.
Conventions and Camps that travel are forced to rent out hotel ballrooms, schools, or convention centers. All of these places are not equipped to hold these events. These places don't have the proper flooring, potentially bring harm to the dancers. They also don't have proper practice spaces, meaning teams don't perform to their best abilities because they don't have a decent place to run their routines. This facility can be used for dance competitions, camps, and conventions. It could also be rented by teams or dance studios for classes. I have including four practice rooms that are equipped with mirrors, Marley flooring, and ballet bars. Along with the practice rooms there are two dressing rooms that can be used as needed. The seating in the auditorium is able to be retracted, like bleachers, so that the floor can be used for a convention or if needed extra practice space. This facility has many possibilities and would be valuable to anywhere that has a large dance community.
My biggest challenge with designing this was remembering to put in everything that I needed. With a project like this, there were many different pieces that needed to be included. From fire exits to lights and even handicap assessable bathrooms. I knew when I started this project that it would be a challenge. I feel as though I stayed on task and accomplished my goal on time. One of the pieces I am most proud of for this project was coming up with the idea for having retractable seating in the auditorium space. This makes the building more functional and assessable for use.
I learned a lot while designing this project. I learned a lot about designing an architectural design that I didn't know before. I had to do research to solve these problems. For starters I didn't know that there had to be a set number of toilets per number of people I expect to be I the building at once. I also had to research fire codes to figure out how many fire exits I needed to include in my design. Overall I learned how to manage my time proper to finish this project on time.

Reviews.
"I love the modern style and layout of this venue. I think the aesthetics alone make it an attractive place for potential dance events. I would recommend having a space directly near the front of the stage where the judging table could be. Also consider adding more seating, and maybe even floor level seating." -Valerie Elazegui (former dance team coach for Saint Thomas Aquinas, Judge)
"The layout works well with the stage! I would include the option to divide the main room into two rooms for conventions to hold more than one class at a time. Overall this would be a great venue for conventions/ competitions!" - Jennie Shields (Choreographer and judge for Five Star Productions, Former assistant coach for the Olathe South Golden Girls)
"This is an amazing idea! Maybe add ore seating on the sides to fit ore people. Also think about fire exits from the dance rooms. Your designs would be so beneficial to the dance community!" -Ann Marie Case (coach for the Olathe South Dance team)
